INTERMATIONAL MARITIME TRANSPORTATION OF GOODS

Canavara Group provides services in the sphere of international sea transportation of goods via Saint Petersburg, the Baltic ports (Riga, Klaipėda, Tallinn), Finland (Helsinki, Turku, Kotka). International sea transportation logistics from North America, South America, China, South East and East Asia via German ports (Hamburg, Bremen, Bremerhaven), the Benelux Union (Antwerp, Rotterdam) with subsequent shipment to Russia by sea (using feeder vessels) or by truck was developed by Canavara Group.

International sea transportation transit time is 40 – 45 days for South East Asian countries, 18 – 24 days for Turkey, Greece, Egypt and other Mediterranean countries, 10 – 12 days (to Hamburg) from the USA and Canada and up to 20 – 25 days from South American countries. Sea cargo shipment from Europe to Big Port Saint Petersburg takes 4 to 5 days from the vessel departure.

Canavara Group is represented by agents in Baltimore, New York, Boston, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Qingdao, Ningbo, Ho Chi Minh City, Hamburg, Kiel, Bremen, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Rotterdam and other major ports worldwide as well.

International sea transportation is implemented by our partners’ vessels, the largest ocean carriers (OOCL, Maersk, CMA CGM, Fesco, Delta Shipping Lines, ZIM, Cosco, CSAV and suchlike).

The main types of basic conditions have long been used in international trade practice under generally accepted names-EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF, etc. These names are abbreviated versions of the English phrases: FOB-Free on Board ("free on Board"); CIF-Cost, Insurance and Freight ("cost, insurance and freight"); CFR - Cost and Freight ("cost and freight"); FAS - Free Alongside Ship ("free on Board"), etc.

International container shipping

International container shipping is carried out in sea, ocean or feeder line containers. In case universal containers (DV, DC, GP types) are not suitable, special cargo shipment (dangerous, heavy or oversized) is implemented in consignor or cargo owner’s containers.

When renting a container from the line it is important to take into account the factor of demurrage (container usage maximum time). Canavara Group only deals with the companies providing a 14 to 21 or more days’ period of demurrage after cargo shipping and unloading is finished.

In sea container shipping demurrage is a penalty for exceeding free time allowed for container usage starting with the time of unloading from the vessel until transportation from the territory of the port. Detention is a penalty for exceeding free time allowed for container usage starting with the time of transportation with cargo from the territory of the port until returning it empty to the container owner (that is to the shipping line as a rule). The average demurrage period granted by the line is 5 to 7 days with exceeding time penalty of $30 to 100 per day. The average detention period is 2 to 5 days with exceeding time penalty of $20 to 120 per day. Having achieved long-term service contracts with the shipping lines Canavara Group offers their clients combined special conditions on demurrage / detention of 21 to 28 days of free container usage starting with the time of unloading from the vessel until returning it empty to the container owner.
